Conservatives and Wine Shipping

I had a discussion with the owner of my wine of the month club and the issue of shipping wine came up.  In the United States, certain states exempt wine shipments from outside retailers, it is interesting that most of those states are the incredibly conservative ones.

In Canada we still have some provinces with state owned liquor stores.  If conservatives truly want to stand for small business and the free market, how in the world can either of those scenarios be accepatble to conservatives in either Canada or the United States?

Personally I think it is time to take a stand, not only for wine, but small business in general.
