I have been an avid republican supporter for many years and with the election looming on the horizon I decided to get back into the swing of the politics in my region and go and to canvas support for my party. I told everyone I met to log onto www.albertarepublicans.org to see what we had to offer by way of changing the systems that govern us in Alberta today.

It was not easy as many of those who vote democrat are dead set against us and no amount of argument will change their minds. So it was with this in mind that I organised the motorcycle Republican rally. I had all of my biker friends who are just as into the Republican ideals as I am, join together to ride the state carrying the message of change with us.

Out came the bike, a Honda 750 and off I went to get it sorted for the hard riding on rough roads ahead all I needed was found at especially the new chain and sprockets , and once fitted we were off on our pilgrimage around the State. At first all was going well. We stopped at several towns and held meeting with other local republican supporters, but it all started to wrong when we got stuck between Airdie and Red Deer. Two of the bikes (that had not been properly serviced) broke down and the riders had to be ferried home by bus.

When we stopped at Calgary and joined in with a republican rally we came back to find that our bikes and all out other gear had been stolen. It was rapidly turning into a nightmare and we had such a hard time with the cops that we too just came home. They took us for Angels, I mean we weren’t even wearing colours, and they told us to clear out and if they found our bikes they would let us know.
Jeez politics is a dirty business isn’t it?

The notion of the sister city is an interesting one because it is an international relationship that is usually arranged by individuals not central governments. It is normally the case that local officials preside over sister city events but the driving force between such connections are normal citizens that reach out to make friends with citizens in other countries.

Sister city relations help promote cultural exchanges, business ties and other opportunities both for local businesses and for non-profit organizations. Moreover, sister city relations help to teach children the importance of tolerating other cultures, creeds and religions. A sister city relationship provides young people with the opportunity to do home stays in foreign countries, and to learn a foreign language. Here is a list of the sister city relationships in Alberta:

   Airdrie:
South Korea Gwacheon, South Korea

Barrhead:
Japan Tokoro, Japan
AustraliaVictoria (Australia) Drouin, Victoria, Australia

    Calgary:
India Jaipur, India
China Daqing, Heilongjiang province, China
South Korea Daejeon, South Korea
Mexico Naucalpan, México, Mexico
United StatesArizona Phoenix, Arizona, USA
CanadaQuebec Quebec City, Quebec, Canada

Camrose:
CanadaQuebec Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada
Japan Kamifurano, Japan
CanadaNova Scotia Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada
AustraliaQueensland Warwick, Queensland, Australia

Edmonton:
China Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China
CanadaQuebec Hull, Quebec, Canada
United StatesTennessee Nashville, Tennessee, USA
South Korea Wonju, Gangwon Province, South Korea

Lethbridge:
China Anyang, Henan Province, China
United StatesCalifornia Culver City, California, USA
Russia Timashevsk, Russia
Japan Towada City, Aomori, Japan

Okotoks:
United StatesCalifornia San Carlos, California, USA

There are a few interesting connections being made here. Russia, India, South Korea and Japan are all part of Alberta’s sister city nexus. More needs to be done to bring towns and cities from such places as Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Malawi and elsewhere into the fold of the fellowship of friendship with Alberta. Why not pair Okotoks up with Lamai in Koh Samui, or Edmonton with Puerto Madryn in Argentina for example? We need to show the rest of Canada and the world that Alberta is an important place. Reaching out with imaginative sister city relationships is one way to do this.

One of the commonest held perceptions of Canada by foreigners is that it is a cold country. They are not wrong. Although there are micro-climates in Canada, and although Alberta has some of the ‘mildest’ Canadian weather, it is true Canada is very cold in the winter. The mercury regularly drops to 15 degrees Celsius below freezing. Even colder in many places.

For those who love skiing and snowboarding the winter is a fun time. For those who don’t, winter can be a long and depressing season. SAD or seasonally adjusted disorder is a common problem in Canada. The lack of sunlight in the winter gets a lot of people down.

For those able to take some time off from their Canadian and Albertan lives, a trip to a tropical clime is recommended. If you can get time off work or study then we suggest getting on a flight and visiting Thailand. It is a beautiful country full of historic sites and gorgeous beaches.

One of the best tourist destinations is the up and coming island of Koh Phangan. It has an excellent range of accommodation to suit all budgets. There are many white sand beaches with year round swimming, and best of all there is an exciting nightlife. In Haad Rin there is the world famous Full Moon bash. The party attracts over 20,000 people who get very merry dancing the night away under the full moon. What better way to recover from the Alberta winter blues than to sunbathe and swim in the warm ocean all day and then to party all night.

It’s such fun that I’m sure even Republicans would enjoy the experience!

Alberta is always known to provide a great quality of life to its citizens. It is considered to be perhaps the best place to live and work. There is hardly an Albertan who will have any sort of complaints about the quality of life here. I moved in to Canada about 8 years ago and ever since, I feel that I had always belonged here.

Alberta has offered me not just great career opportunities but also a great lifestyle. The best thing about settling down in Alberta is the culture of the locals. Albertans are known to be highly welcoming and warm people and this, I can say by experience. My initial few years have been easy only due to the fact that my neighbors have been extremely supportive and helpful. From helping me find the best laundry service to getting me the Breville BJE510XL juicer from her kitchen so that I enjoy a glass of fresh orange juice, my neighbors have been extremely generous is letting me integrate into the Canadian culture. My experience as an immigrant has been great in every way. Alberta offers quite an affordable life too hence; it becomes easier for people like me who have just started their careers to settle in a country without much difficulty.

Calgary has definitely offered me the home I always looked for. After having spent over 8 years in this beautiful city, I always advise my friends, who are looking to immigrate to a western country, to choose Alberta!

You can clearly see the differences across every sector in society by knowing their perspective. The overall goal of these sectors is to protect their own interests and prevent any unfair rulings over their members. In essence, you would be able to determine how a sector would react if there would be a chance for their thoughts to be expressed. The best possible example of this chance is the election period. If you want to know why the security guards chose the Republicans, this article will be of help to you. The following are the primary reasons why today’s peacekeepers voted for the Republicans:

The security guards voted for Republicans mainly to help maintain their jobs. Since the Republicans took an active role in expanding security jobs, the security guard sector promoted their intentions through their votes. Besides, the number of security personnel jobs has been dwindling in the past few months. In some statistics, the decline is even gaining speed. To protect the rights of the security guards, they have opted to support the group that would help achieve the sector’s goal.

In addition, all of the ideas posted by the Republicans were innovative when it comes to increasing the total number of security jobs nationwide. The ideas are leaned towards the expansion of the Safety and Protection part of the society. Because of this specific perspective, there is a bigger possibility that these ideas and plans would develop into a more stable action plan. As of the moment, the security guard sector is dismayed about the lack of attention to their cause. Now that the chance to uplift their situation is present, it would be wise for this sector to support the reason for those ideas – the Republicans.

As you have seen, decisions regarding major changes that would create wide-scale impact should be thoroughly analyzed, especially if you have a say on what would happen. The security guards made these steps, hence, securing their future.

The use of cordyceps is one that is widely popular in almost all parts of the world. For Alberta republicans, the story is not any different. In essence, cordyceps is a Chinese herbal medicine that is derived from a rare Fungus. It has been used for more that two thousand years to treat kidney and lung related diseases. It has also been used in strengthening the immune system and enhancing sexual energy. Due to its various medicinal benefits, it is extensively used in Alberta, to treat various ailments and health conditions. Any person in Alberta seeking to get hold of a product to help him or her maintain appropriate blood viscosity, then the use of this product is the best way how.

Cordyceps greatly improves on blood circulation hence is recommended for persons who want to get rid of some kind of exhaustion or fatigue. It greatly reduces the chances that one will suffer from atherosclerosis since it has the ability to reduce the amount of lipids in the blood. Surprisingly, it can help impotent men take control of their condition, hence giving them a restored sense of hope. By improving on the production of the sex hormones, libido is increased and consequently improves the sexual function in this group of men.

For the elderly population in the area, cordyceps can be used to improve their weaknesses hence helps them improve on their health. Notably, it can also be used to provide some anti-aging effects. This is for the simple reason that the fungus tends to have some antioxidant effects since it increase on cellular information. Last but not least, the product greatly improves on the respiratory function. It is hence a good option to fight the effects of coughs, bronchitis as well as asthma. With all these mentioned benefits, there is no reason why the Alberta republicans should not have it as a medic product for the home.

Of course we all know the catalyst for the huge increase in surveillance that happened in the USA, Canada and the majority of the Western World – the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But now we can actually analyse the threat in a more dispassionate way the increasing lack of privacy is becoming an important issue for citizens.

Privacy has often been described as an important foundation of Liberal democracy and there are many who are concerned that by increasing surveillance that we are actually eroding that political ideal. Certainly the extent to which we are monitored is now much higher than it has ever been unless perhaps you were unfortunate enough to have lived under the watchful eyes of the Stasi or KGB. The question is – can it be justified? What really is the motivation behind this sort of extensive monitoring.

It’s not just Governments of course, every time you use a computer on the internet, then firms and data companies are tracking everything you do online. Their’s has a commercial bias of course but they are still creating online profiles of every person who uses the internet through their web usage, sites they visit, ads they click and even their social networking information.

It’s not surprising that websites like http://www.anonymous-proxies.org/ which provide information, advice and news on privacy and anonymity online are becoming more popular. The reality is that people are beginning to be threatened by excessive surveillance when their lives slowly begin to resemble George Orwell’s famous novel – 1984.

Of course the question is – what is the payoff ? Does surveillance produce enough benefits to balance out this loss of privacy? In my opinion, and it is just my opinion – it doesn’t even come close. For example the above website reviews a computer software that is able to encrypt everything you do online. Those people are instantly protected from the vast majority of covert surveillance – it is probably likely a terrorist would take similar precautions. The obvious danger is that you end up only monitoring those who don’t mind being watched or worse are not aware they’re being watched.

There has been huge investment by most Governments across the world in the technologies to watch our movements both off and online. I suggest there has been substantially less in procedures and protocols for using this information. There are some hugely important issues and concerns with how and when this information is used.

As anyone who lives there can tell you the quality of life that Alberta residents enjoy is a very good one. Personal taxes are lower, additional health benefits are readily available, the economy remains strong and the housing is attractive and relatively affordable.

One growing trend amongst Alberta homeowners is to add an outdoor fireplace to their backyard. An outdoor fireplace adds both warmth and elegance to any outdoor space and is great for entertaining.

Wood burning outdoor fireplaces are very popular but you do of course need somewhere to store the wood needed to keep a nice roaring fire in all night. Keeping a stack of logs loose on a deck or patio is neither very safe or very attractive. It is for that reason that most wood burning fireplace owners purchase a firewood storage rack.

Homeowners can find firewood storage racks in a number of different styles and sizes. many of this styles blend into the background very well, so their presence does not ruin the overall look of the space. They are relatively inexpensive to purchase and in addition to providing handy storage for firewood they also help keep that firewood in great shape.

What kind of wood you choose to store in your firewood storage rack will often be determined by the use you want to put your fireplace to. if it is to be used for warmth only any nice dry, well seasoned logs should work well. If on the other hand you want to cook over your fireplace the type of wood you use can affect the flavors of the food so you need to choose a little more carefully! Mesquite, cedar, peach, apple and cherry woods are all popular cooking wood choices. The fruit woods work best for fish, sweet dishes and poultry but if you are cooking red meats you really need a mesquite or cedar wood that can easily impart that nice strong, smoky flavor you are looking for.

I always love hearing about successful products that have been launched right here in Canada! It seems like so much manufacturing is being outsourced to other countries, and it’s great to learn about products that are being developed and manufactured in our country.

The latest product I heard about from my wife — it’s a hair oil called mira hair oil that comes straight from Toronto. Based on an age-old combination of herbs, it helps restore hair by repairing damage and can consequently help improve hair growth. It’s about $80 (USD) for a bottle and has amassed fans from all across the globe. My wife loves it; she says it makes her hair shinier and thicker. I can’t say I know much about hair care products, but when my wife loves it, it must be good!

Have you heard about any products that are manufactured exclusively in Canada? I’d love to hear about them. Shoot me an email and I’ll feature them on AlbertaRepublicans.org!

Calgary Republicans can be proud of our efforts to foster Alberta’s manufacturing industries. By promoting a business friendly operating environment we can draw ever mode manufacturers to our local towns and cities, and provide great jobs for you citizenry.

One type of business worth luring into the neighborhood are manufacturing jobs in factories. The production of home appliances is relatively labor intensive, and can create a large number of jobs if it is done locally.

The chief challenge we face in building Canada’s’ base of manufacturing jobs is competition from other countries where labor costs are much lower. Clearly we cannot compete with many of the South East Asian nations on labor costs alone.

To be competitive, we must provide a well trained work force that has the confidence and ability to take the initiative to help employers produce better quality products than they can easily do overseas. Let’s take refrigerators as an example.

China is producing a large range of fridge freezers and selling them under brands such as Haier. While cheap to buy, the refrigerator reviews for these products are generally rather poor. Alberta, in order to compete, needs to lure premium manufacturers to the area.

These companies will be willing to pay the extra for our higher labor costs if it means they are able to produce the high quality products their buyers are used too. When refrigerator reviews are positive, consumers will pay more for the products produced, so the firms can absorb the additional costs and still make a profit.

By offering a flexible and educated workforce, minimal government regulation, and cheap and plentiful land, Alberta can stake out a good sized portion of the world’s manufacturing base. As republicans we should do our best to promote policies that make us competitive in these areas. We need to be the party of the job creators.
